5 years ago, on a mountainous excursion, a group of travel specialists found a stilt house of Tay ethnic people which is about to be demolished. Local people often dream about having a concrete house, yet we know it’s a waste to put down such a beautifully preserved house with rich history and culture.
So we decide to persuade the house’s owner to keep it and turn it into a homestay. More than a business asset, the house is the passion & dream of travel lovers who wish to preserve the culture of Tay people and create a peaceful mountain hideaway for city dwellers from the hustle and bustle.

The charm of Greendoor lies in its authentic villages, where you can get the best experience of how life in the mountainous countryside is. Locals’ drying corns, harvesting rice, collecting chestnuts, swimming in ponds, … you will capture every beat of life just a few steps from the house.
Greendoor is a homely place with rustic decorations, lots of which are from local materials. While it is nowhere near lodges and hotels, it is made by frequent travelers who have stayed, worked for, and managed those top-notch accommodations. We have certain standards on how to make a decent place to stay: how to make the bed clean and cozy, how to cook fresh and delicious, etc. We taught local people everything we know. From local farmers, they now know how to host faraway guests nicely.
But there is one thing that can’t be trained: hospitability. We can not force anybody to greet guests with the warmest smile or to serve them with utmost sincerity. Luckily, these seem to be innate traits of mountainous people whose simple life is far from modernity.
